I think your work is amazing. I would LOVE to see more Shrugged. I have had a hard time finding Benoist. I'll keep looking. Your deviations of the Wolverine pinups are particularly impressive. I may have to throw some inks on them. With your permission of course.

Wow, amazing skills, are the clean lines made direcctlly on the sketch ones?or do you use a lightbox? because it´s really clean! Thanks a lot for showing this process, it´s really great to see how a true pro works:D may I ask you what pencils do you use?

Thanks! I didn't use a lightbox for this particular one I don't think...Can't remember too well cause its been a while...Sometimes I do though, and it definitely helps to keep things cleaner. I use HB lead for layouts and then H for finishes.

I have this problem with the lightbox, I always feel a bit imprisoned...(i dont know if imprisoned is the right word but, i cant think of any other, like "not free" ^^;) and even though the final result is absolutelly cleaner, I always feel that it´s not really my style...thanks for sharing

wow. That page looks awesome. The blacks look really good. Love the silhouette shapes in panel 2 and how you rendered the bird and his arm musculature. Looks like this one will be really graphic with your all your blacks and the way its colored too. Can't wait to get a copy.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm using way more black in my work now...Its a lot of fun, but definitely challenging! Be sure to let me know what you think of the issue when you get it, I'd love to hear some feedback:)

Those are some tight sketches. Guess that's why you have such tight pencils?

Thanks:) Yeah, I tend to keep things pretty tight, but if I'm on a more strict deadline sometimes I leave more of the layout lines.

This is nice. Do you use a lightbox or do the layout on the board.

Thanks! No, I didn't use a lightbox for this one, just did it on the board if I remember correctly. I usually only use a lightbox if I need a really clean line and its not being inked.

Actually, it's page 2. You should've known that, Micah. Especially since you drew it. =P

Looking good, though I've to say I was expecting the robot birds to be plain, gray, metal - just like the dragon - not painted. But that doesn't really matter.

I don't know what you're talking about Simon, it says pg2 in big letters at the top there...Might wanna get your prescription checked;) Good call man! Yeah, I must have been distracted when I was putting this up. I thought the birds were gonna be plain metal too...so we're on the same page.

Thanks man! As far as I know I'm not doing any more Showcases, but I will be doing a variant cover for one thats coming up:) I currently work from home and send the pencils into the office via fedex, but I used to work in the studio and may do that again if I move back to LA next year.

Awesome, I'll be on the look out for that then :)

Sounds cool man, i know the studio is located on this strip of beautiful beach right? i've worked in a nice animation studio before but we don't have anything like that up here on the "sunny" beaches of Canada :)
Must have been pretty awesome working along side guys like Talent, Koi, and Marcus though!

Cheers man~

Haha...No, its not located on the beach:) I wish! Though, we'd probably never get anything done if that was the case...Anyway, its located right now in Culver City, which is not near the beach unfortunately:)
I actually wasn't in the studio at the time that Talent was there...He left right before I arrived for my internship. Marcus and I were hired the same year, and Koi had been there for a few months before. It was definitely cool working with both those guys and we learned a lot from each other I think.

Ah ok, that's too bad though :) i always thought it was along the beach for some reason, along Santa del mer ray or something? ( haha sorry i don't know too much about LA and south Cali)
I'm sure the place is amazing though!
Yeah i remember reading your interview with Vince and seeing some sketchs in the back of Soulfire dying of the light issue 0 ( or was it the preview?)I'd be so excited to be around guys like that! and no doubt you can learn alot ( i can tell you did ) from them as well as Michael.

Are you doing anything for the tribute book by the way? I read that they got a new artist to finsh the last 3 issues of Soulfire, I loved the art that Michael did for it ( well all his stuff in general :p )it'd be awesome to see you bust out something!

So i've read! Haha i know SoCal has good weather, i went down to LA once or twice and it was amazing!
I envy your prices on food though! i got a box of fried chicken for like $8 it'd cost more then $15 or so here in Canada.
well we have mountains so we can snowboard so that's about it :p

cheers man, i look forward to getting the tribute!
